Another eaterie from award winning Smith & Demetre?

Business cards & contacts

Rumours have arrived at The Chef Hermes blog about award winning restaurateurs, Will Smith & Anthony Demetre. So far they have produced a fine stable of eateries since they first went it alone to create Arbutus. Having first met at L’Odeon working under Bruno Loubet in 1998, Messers Smith & Demetre then went on to work together at the architecturally stunning Putney Bridge restaurant, where Mr Demetre went on to achieve 4 rosettes from the AA & 1 Michelin star for his food. Eventually the time would come for the duo to go it alone.

In May 2006 the first offering called Arbutus was launched to rave reviews and a year latter the feat was duplicated with the acclaimed Wild Honey. Needless to say the inspectors were also impressed with both eateries now holding Michelin stars. In October 2010 the 3rd in the collection opened, Les Deux Salons and again the rave reviews came flooding in, with The Telegraph’s Zoe Williams concluding;

….the dishes are so good, in such a French way it’s almost impossible to believe you’re not in Paris (or Brest). It’s more than a restaurant; it’s a minibreak.

Now there allegedly seems that there is a fourth eaterie in the pipeline for 2012. Recruitment has already started with a possible head chef already being recruited and being indoctrinated into the Smith & Demetre way at Les Deux Salons. The candidate allegedly in the frame is Elisha Carter, formerly of the Landau at the Langham until recently when Roux Snr & Jnr took over the running of the grandiose restaurant. Mr Carter left the Langham recently saying on his FaceBook page;

The final chapter in the Langham book has come to an end….

Here’s to the next chapter Elisha. All the best for the future.
